This book was slightly different from what I usually read. It's a mix of a sci-fi type of genre along with a dash of dystopian and fantasy. Like many other books I have been reading lately, I was recommended to read this by Booktube: Cinder by Marissa Meyer.
Summary:
Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl.
Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future
I honestly love this book a lot more than I thought I would. The idea of Cinder as a cyborg, at first, kind of turned me off. But now that I've read it, going in with mild expectations, I really enjoyed it. I loved Cinder's character and the world that Marissa Meyer created. And I especially loved Prince Kai (ahhh the feels!). I may or may not do a video review of this book (I may just do a series review). Anyway, I enjoyed how the author stuck to the story of Cinderella, but simultaneously, she completed re-created and made it much more interesting in my opinion.
Overall, I very much enjoyed Cinder. I cannot wait to continue the series! (There is Scarlet, Cress, and soon to come- Winter.) I give this book a 4.7/5 and a 9.2/10.
Thank you for reading and I definitely hope you check this book out!
